"You can't get wine ANYWHERE at Disney World..."

It is amazing to me how many people not only hold, but perpetuate misconceptions fully and reliably disproved by a 2-word Google search.

A friend approached me last week and said, "I was at the office and heard a customer insisting there is nowhere that you can get wine anywhere at Disney World.  That can't be true right?"

Right.  On a shelf, chilled in a cooler, at a restaurant, in a gift basket.  It's all there for the sipping.  Without it, the annual EPCOT Food & WINE Festival would be quite a letdown...

Not only can you get wine at Disney World, but you can enjoy an impressive variety and caliber if you look in the right places.  Options and inventory may vary slightly, but you can readily purchase bottles at every Disney resort hotel - along with every Disney themed accessory you can imagine.

Wine is widely available at sit down restaurants as well, even in the previously "dry" Magic Kingdom.  If you are strolling Epcot, regional varieties in bottles and by the glass can be found all around the world showcase.  For those who are really dedicated to in-room sipping, a pre-ordered, wine filled, gift basket can be delivered to your room.

While there are numerous wine flights and opportunities to be found throughout Walt Disney World, even casual wine drinkers should consider a trip to Wine Bar George.  135 different wines are available for purchase by the bottle, glass, or ounce.  The breadth/depth of these by the ounce offerings are advantageous for everyone from wine novices to connoisseurs.  Novices can sample without the commitment of a full glass as they develop their own tastes.  Oenophiles can experience some of the establishment's more prestigious wines without an entire bottle's hefty price tag.  Everybody wins.  

For beer drinkers, the options in the resort hotel shops might not be astounding; but beer too is widely found in flights and on tap throughout the property and can be pre-ordered as part of a gift basket.  Outside of the hotel shops, even the pickiest craft beer lover is bound to find something surprisingly new or wonderfully familiar.  On our last trip, Maine's own Sea Dog Sunfish Ale on tap checked the familiarity box.  Dining spots that are themed around certain geographical locations typically have "local brews" available.  For example, Kona Brewing Company varieties at the Polynesian Resort, African and Asian beers in the Animal Kingdom, Belgian beers at Be Our Guest in the Magic Kingdom, and of course... the German Pavilion at EPCOT.

Long story short, you want it, you can find it.  A little pixie dust (aka research) can make your Disney beer and wine dreams come true!
